Duane Dean Markley, 70, of Augusta, KS, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017  at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. Visitation  6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, and graveside service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Indianola Cemetery, rural Benton, KS. Duane was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 5, 1947, to the late Charlotte Vivian (Corbin) and Gilbert Freeman Markley. Duane grew up on a farm in rural Augusta, and graduated from Augusta High School in May of 1965.  He served in the U.S. Army. from June of 1966 to June of 1968 and served in Vietnam.  He was one of the best auto mechanics around.  He loved life on the farm and was great at training horses.  On December 31, 1970 he married Linda Sue (Wyant) who survives him. He is also survived by: sons, David Markley and wife Ashley of Bel Aire, KS, and Darren Markley of Andover, KS; grandchildren, Donavan and Freya; sister, Judith Jenelle Koftan and husband Kenneth of Derby, KS; brother, Gerald Markley and wife Deon.  Memorial donations to Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc., 1949 Dalton Rd., Sedan, KS 67361.
