Elwood Melton Brixey "Woody", 95, of Augusta, KS passed away Friday, April 6, 2018. Visitation prior to service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.  Private burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Elwood was born June 2,1922 in Ava Missouri. He was an only child of Harry and Myrtle Burks Brixey.  After completing high school in Ava he moved to Seattle, Washington.  He worked in the shipyards on Bramridge Island and entered the Navy in 1944 serving on the U.S.S. Quincy in the Pacific.  After serving two years he moved back to Ava, Missouri and married his high school sweetheart, Eris Maxine Swearengin in 1946.  They had one daughter Eris Ann.  Elwood attended college taking veterinarian courses for two years before moving to Augusta, Ks in 1954.  He was employed at the Getty-Mobil Refinery in El Dorado for 25 years and retiring in 1983 from Texaco. He was a member of several organizations: Midian Shrine, Consistory, and Mystic Tie Blue Lodge.  He was an active member of The Red Scats cycle Unit that performed locally as well as out of town. He loved hunting, fishing, country music and loved to dance.  He is survived by his wife and daughter Eris Ann Mouton and son-in-law Rene Mouton of Houston, Texas; step-grandson and step granddaughter and four step great-grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to First Christian Church, 1600 State Street Augusta, Kansas 67010 or Midian Plane of Mercy 130 N.
