Carl Chester Williams, 92, of Augusta, KS, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, in Augusta. Carl was born in Des Arc, Arkansas on November 23, 1929, to the late Gladys Pauline (Swink) and John Dalton Williams. He joined the Army Air Forces and retired from the Army after 20 years. After retiring from the Army, Carl worked as an electrical mechanic at Beechcraft and Cessna. Whether you knew him as Carl or as Chester, there is no denying you knew him as an upstanding gentleman. He was a proud veteran and even prouder American. He could most often be found at the lake fishing when the gardening was done, and the kitties were fed. He loved to spend time in his garage and shop, always finding ways to improve on this or that. Between him and Lonnie, there wasn't a bit of mischief those boys didn't take the opportunity to get into. He is missed so much but we can take comfort knowing he is walking in the Bountiful Garden with the Lord. On January 31, 1953, he married Velma Jean (Meistrell) and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Karla Williams, infant brother, John Edward Williams, brother, Lonnie Ray Williams, and sister, Lili Mae Everett. Carl is survived by a son, John Williams and wife Gloria; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A memorial graveside service will be held at Peppers Lake Cemetery, De Valls Bluff, Arkansas at a later date.
