Carolyn Bernadine Engelbert

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, Carolyn Bernadine Engelbert, mother of five children, passed away at the age of 92.

Carolyn was born in Tipton, Kansas on January 5, 1933, to the late Veronica (Thummel) and Nickolas Schutz. She graduated from Hunter High School in 1950. On November 6, 1950, she married Robert "Bob" Eugene Engelbert, Sr. at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit, KS. They raised 2 sons, Robert Jr. and Lawrence, and three daughters, Diann, Donna and Debra.

Carolyn worked at Lehr's Restaurant from 1973 to 1977 and at the Augusta Medical Complex as a respiratory therapist until she retired in 2003.

Carolyn was home bound for many years, then in 2024, moved into LakePoint Augusta.

Carolyn was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the St. James Altar Society.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; sons, Robert Eugene Engelbert, Jr. and Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Engelbert; daughter, Donna Sue Crowley; brothers, Eugene and Lawrence Schutz; and sisters, Angeline Dungy and Helen Eilert. She is survived by daughters, Diann Zimmerman and husband Rex of Kiowa, KS, and Deb Tanner and husband Bruce of Olathe, KS; son-in-law, Dean Crowley of Andover, KS; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. A Rosary will be 9:30 Thursday, April 3, 2025 followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta, KS. Graveside services will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 at St. John's Cemetery, Beloit, KS.
