Edward "Ed" Allen Potter, 79, of Leon, KS, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, KS.
Ed was born in Los Angeles, California on May 10, 1943, to the late Merle and Cova (Lofton) Potter. They made their way back to Kansas where Ed attended grade school in Gordon, and graduated from Douglass High School in 1961. He later attended Wichita Technical Institute and graduated with an Associate's Degree.
Following school, Ed went to work for Beechcraft where he retired from after 37 years to focus on his favorite hobbies: farming, hunting, and fishing.
Ed married Sherri Wyatt Thornton in June of 1966. To this union they adopted Michael Potter.
Ed later married E. Darlene (Perkins) Nichols Potter in June of 1985, and to this union he adopted Dedra Edwards and Nick Nichols.
He was preceded in death by: his mom and dad; sister, Norma Wilson; brother in law, Jerry Wilson; nieces and nephews.
Ed is survived by: son, Michael Potter (Amy), daughter, Dedra Edwards (Leonard) son, Robert "Nick" Nichols (Shawn); 12 grandkids; 9 great grandkids; and many extended family members.
Visitation 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Haverhill Christian Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will take place at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS.
Memorial donation may be made to Haverhill Christian Church building fund 10275 SW Haverhill Rd. Augusta, KS 67010 or Chase Augur memorial fund.
