James "Jim" David Gulick, age 79, of Andover, KS, peacefully passed away on November 2, 2024, at Kansas Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, Barbara. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta, KS, followed by a graveside service at 12:15 p.m. at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, KS.
Jim was born on November 9, 1944, in Eureka, KS, to Ruby Louise (Norwood) Haninger and Francis Henry Gulick. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring in 1983. After his military service, he dedicated his career to Boeing as a logistics manager, and later fulfilled his passion for entrepreneurship by owning J-Bar Kennels.
Jim found joy in many activities, including hunting, fishing, and playing cards, but nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his family. On August 14, 1971, he married his beloved wife, Barbara, in Denver, Colorado, and together they created a warm and loving home.
He is survived by his son, Lyle Gulick of Augusta, KS; his daughters, Roberta Ann Gulick of Holliston, MA, and Lynette Dryden of Augusta, KS. He was a cherished "Papa" to his adored grandchildren, Amanda Tunnell (Brett), Jeffrey Wooldridge, Jessica White, Samantha Gulick, Clay Dryden, Nicole Deiter (Adam), James Buckley Gulick, and Stephan and Demetius Christi. Jim was also a proud great-Papa to Kohen and Kennadi Parsons, Taylor, Katlynn and Asher Wooldridge, Bobby White, and Theodore and Eli Deiter.
Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, John Gulick and Steve Haninger; sisters, Barbara Whiteside, Norma Spurlock, Mary Gentry, and Shirley Zuck; and a beloved grandson, John Wooldridge.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness (even when expressed with the jolt of his deep Papa voice), his sense of humor and the love he shared with all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication and love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project, honoring Jim's commitment to his country & serving others.
