JoAnn Linot, 86, passed from this earth on June 14th, 2024, and is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior. She lived on a farm in Butler County. JoAnn was born January 30, 1938, in Derby Kansas, the daughter of the late Mava and Roy Swaney. Joe and JoAnn (Swaney) were united in marriage on October 7th, 1961, in Derby, Kansas.  JoAnn and her late husband Joe were retired farmer/ranchers. Throughout the years, JoAnn was always happy to baby-sit her grandchildren, and then follow them in school sports and all school activities. She enjoyed all animals, gardening, and loved to be outdoors working on the farm near Augusta. She managed the haying and cattle operations for many years while also volunteering at the Lords Diner and being the bookkeeper for the Augusta Township. She was a member of St. James Catholic Parish in Augusta, Kansas, she oversaw the St. James Catholic Education Program, CCD for years and was involved in the St. James Alter Society. She was a Special Education Paraprofessional at Augusta High School for 15 years.  She graduated from Derby High School in 1956, and was a bank teller in Derby after graduating high school. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mava and Roy Swaney; her brother, Gary Swaney; and a daughter, Joan Linot-Korth. She is survived by: her sisters, Roberta Arwine of  Fowler, Judy New (David) of Haysville; brothers, Jim (Betty), Ron (Pat), Rex (Sherry) of Wichita; her loving children, Jerald Linot (Melissa) of El Dorado, Jean Gibbs (David) of El Dorado, and Joe Linot, Jr. (Becky) of Wichita; grandchildren, Logan Linot, and Lenexa Crouch (Bryce) of El Dorado, Laiken Cody (Tanner) of Augusta, David Korth (Courtney) of Olathe, Eric Korth, Jessica Korth, Luke Korth, and Adam Korth, (Lori Battern) of Kansas City, Janay Brickley (Ryan), Jaydee Gibbs of El Dorado, Jonam Gibbs of Monument, CO, Jacy Gibbs of Nashville, TN, Alec Linot of Los Angeles, CA, and Reid Linot (Natalie) of Kansas City, MO; step-grandchildren, Adam Johnston of Augusta and Alicia Martinez (Ryan) of Udall; great grandchildren, Nola Martinez, Everly Brickley, Willow Brickley, Marlowe Brickley, Bryson Cody, Brekklyn Cody, Callum Korth, and Rhett Korth.
JoAnn was caring, loving, and selfless. Her loved ones will miss her greatly, but are comforted knowing she's with the Lord.
A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. with a closed casket visitation following from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday June 21st, 2024. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday June 22nd, all at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta, Kansas. Burial services will follow mass at Calvary Cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the St James Catholic Church, 1012 East Belmont Ave, Augusta, KS 67010 or The Lord's Diner 520 N Broadway Wichita, KS 67214.
