John Harding, Jr.

John Harding, Jr., 58 of Augusta, Kansas, passed away at his home on February 25, 2021 after suffering a major heart attack and complications last year.

John was born on December 26, 1962 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas the son of John A. Harding, Sr. & Loxie Jean (Castle) Harding.  He graduated from Augusta High School in 1981 and attended Wichita State University.

John discovered his passion early in life. As a teenager, he became interested in Hollywood's history. The old movies and stars, especially the actors and actresses of the 1930s and 1940s B movies, was his love. John worked for decades in the hospitality industry as a General Manager and was instrumental in opening many new properties locally and throughout, California being some of his favorites. He always had a smile for customers, friends and coworkers. He loved to travel, talk about the movie industry, and research historical Hollywood events. John was never without his loyal, loving schnauzers who were his constant companions.

John is survived by: father John Harding Sr. (Wanda) of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; aunts, Camille Deer (David) and Karen Eberding (Don); nephews, Britt, Clay, and Devin Massingill; cousins, Cami Baker, Brad Harding, Cindy Payne (Jesse), Matthew and Brian Deer, Cheryl Diehl.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Loxie in 1994, his sister, Kris Renae Massingill in 2010, his grandmother, Betty Castle in 2007 and his grandfather, Samuel Castle in 1985.
