Joyce Daniels was born on November 27, 1938 in Belle Plaine, KS. She had two great loves in her life: family and faith. Joyce was married to her high school sweetheart, Jesse Daniels for 67 years. Much of her life was dedicated to being a loving, devoted mother to their three children. She also volunteered regularly in her church and community. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, she filled multiple roles over the years including deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and youth group leader. She was known for her devotion and commitment to her church and family, and her tireless efforts to always be friendly and caring to others. A natural hostess, she loved gathering family and friends together as often as she could and was blessed with the ability to make even simple things feel like a celebration. She was also an excellent cook and an accomplished seamstress. Her kindness, friendliness, and compassion along with her organizational skills served her well in her career working in the customer service area for the Gas Service Company for 28 years and then after retirement, assisting with funerals at Headley Funeral Chapel for an additional 13 years.
On December 4, 2023, Joyce went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Thelma Pierce; her brothers, Tom Pierce, Max Pierce, and George Pierce; sister, Joanne Watts; as well as her beloved sister-in-law, Renee Pierce. She is survived by: her husband, Jesse; her two daughters, Sande Yentes and husband Don of Windsor, CO, and Barbara Daniels of Augusta, KS; her son, Jeff Daniels of Andover, KS. She will also be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, Morgan Larsen (Bobby) of Ft. Morgan, CO, Dylan Yentes (Amanda) of Douglas, WY, Chase Daniels (Kristen) of Wichita, KS, Adam Daniels (Jaci), and Claire Daniels both of the Kansas City area, along with her nine great grandchildren. The family would also like to thank the special helpers who gave her such loving and attentive care which allowed her to retain some of her independence while living at Cottonwood Point the last few years.
Visitation will take place 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS. Headley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
