Kayleen "Bean" Sue Sabala

Kayleen "Bean" Sue Sabala, 30, of Towanda, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 surrounded by her family. A private service was held to honor her legacy. Bean was born on March 15, 1994, to Kayla Jann (Poynor) and Antonio (Tony) Ramon Sabala.

Bean was a beacon of hope and a tireless advocate for disability and minority rights. She has departed from our midst too soon. Her life was dedicated to speaking for those who could not voice their own concerns, embodying the spirit of both a healer and a priestess.
Born into a world that often overlooked the marginalized, Bean devoted her energy and talents to dismantling barriers and fostering inclusiveness. Her legacy is not only marked by her advocacy but also by the compassionate spirit with which she approached every person and every cause. Those who knew her describe a woman of extraordinary empathy and kindness.
As we mourn her departure, we also celebrate the immense contributions that Bean made to all those she touched. Her life reminds us of the power and the impact one individual can have on the lives of many. Though she has left us, her vision and dreams continue to inspire those who fight for a more equitable world.
She is survived by her parents; brother, Marcelo Sabala and wife Hannah, sisters, Kendra Pinkett and husband Jamal, and Kaitlyn Sabala; grandfather, Marcelo Sabala; grandmother, Marsha Poynor; aunts and uncles, Ynes and Forturo Parra, Hector and Nancy Sabala, Luz Ester and Alberto Zabala, Cesar and Yelitze Sabala, Yelitze and Menejo Gonzales, Kerry and Mark Williamson, Kim Davis, Kevin Poynor; nephews, Sam Sabala, Chas Pinkett, Kyrie Pinkett; numerous cousins; and her fur babies, Leilani Rose Sabala and Ikaia Snow Sabala.

Bean's family invites those who knew her and were touched by her to contribute to a The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), P.O. Box 7410354, Chicago, IL 60674. The MDA finds research for treatments and is actively working on legislation to create a more equitable world for people with disabilities.
