Lavern Glenn Winter, 94, Virgil KS, passed away Wednesday December 7, 2021 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, KS. Visitation at 10 a.m. before the service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 10th, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Elm Street, Eureka, KS. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, KS. Lavern was born in Lehigh, KS June 23, 1927, to the late George Karl and Rachel (Lipps) Winter. Except for serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he was a retired cattle rancher and farmed land that has been in his family for over 80 years. He also cared for his parents until their deaths and was a valued member of his community. Lavern is survived by his brother Donald (Roberta) Winter of Augusta, KS and sisters Barbara Conyers of Wichita and Delores Long of Scottsdale, Arizona, brother-in-law JW Thomlinson (Wellsville, KS) and sister-in-law Kay Winter (Augusta KS), as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin, Orwin and Charles Winter and by his sisters Dorothy Thomlinson, Erma Thompson, and Norma Lowke.
