Leroy Charles Bowen

Leroy Charles Bowen, 78, of Augusta KS, passed away at home Saturday, May 6, 2023.  Leroy was born in Wamego, KS on December 8, 1944, to the late Mildred (Hasenbank) and Kenneth "Hank" Bowen. He graduated from Emporia State University and served in the United States Air Force.  Leroy worked as an operator for Mobil Oil Refinery, was a real estate broker, and an appraiser.  On August 4, 1973 he married the love of his life, Patricia (McNickles).  Leroy was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; his parents; his son Thomas Brown; and granddaughter, Catherine Patricia Cox-Fry.  He is survived by his eight children: Chuck (son) and Jean McDowell of Pleasantville, UT; Gregg McDowell of Douglass; Dale (son) and Tammy Cox of Wichita; Melisa (daughter) and David Gannon of Augusta; Donna (daughter) and Stephen Richins of Rigby, ID; Angie Czaplinski of Arkansas City; Todd (son) and Megan Bowen of Camdenton, MO; Troy (son) and Ashley Bowen of Purcellville, VA; and sister, Virginia Linderman of Winfield; 29 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.  Service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta, KS. There will be a viewing at 10:30 am followed by the service beginning at 11:00 am.  The burial will follow at Leon Cemetery in Leon, KS.
