Lloyd Erie "Jabo" Cook, Jr.

Lloyd Erie "Jabo" Cook, Jr., 81, of Augusta, KS, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023. Graveside service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Clearwater Cemetery, Clearwater, KS. Lloyd was born in Kopperston, WV on November 24, 1941, to the late Lillian Inez (Lafferty)  and Lloyd Erie Cook, Sr. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, and was stationed at McConnell AFB where he met his wife, Kay. He was a respiratory therapist for many years and helped start the respiratory therapy department at the VA in 1971. He also helped teach respiratory therapy at WSU for many years. Lloyd enjoyed sports and had played football, track, and baseball in high school as well as singing in the choir.  In his later years, he enjoyed watching football, listening to music especially bluegrass, and gardening. On October 16, 1965 he married Kay (Trimmer) Cook at St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Haysville, KS.  She survives him. He is also survived by: daughter, Meshel Cook; son, Andrew Cook; brother, Carlos Cook; sister, Jeanette Dillon; grandchildren, Caleb and Noah Cook; great grandchildren, Weston and Lilliana Rucas, and Gatlin and Remington Dunn. Memorial donations may be made to Interim HealthCare & Hospice, 121 W. Central Ave, El Dorado, KS 67042.
