Lucile (Myers) Carter, 94, a lifetime Kansas resident, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023, in Augusta. She was born April 23, 1929, in rural Altoona, Kansas, to Oliver Custer and Gladys (Humphrey) Myers. Lucile graduated from Vilas High School in 1946.
On April 23, 1948, she married Willard Lee Carter in rural Altoona.
Lucile was a loving wife and mother of six children.  She was a homemaker and a willing helper to her husband in his farm fields.  She was a member of the Altoona Christian Church.
She is survived by her children: Steven Carter, San Angelo, Texas; Carol (Jeff) Walker, Olathe, Kansas; Dwight (Janice) Carter, Augusta, Kansas; Julie (Tom) Boren, El Dorado, Kansas; Neil (Mary) Carter, Delano, Minnesota; and Lyle (Jayne) Carter, Rice, Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren: Rebekah Powell, Christa (Nathan) Cockrell, Paula (Ben) Koca, Tim (Lauren) Carter, Melody Walker, Lisa (Luke) Wayland, Chad (Madeline) Carter, Melanie (Barry) Brown, Natalie (Patrick) Faulk, Dana Carter, Alex Carter, Megan (Joey) Simpson, and Beth (Tyler) Patton.; and eleven great-grandchildren: Andrew Cockrell, Claire Koca, Ellie Koca, Felicity Koca, Adele Koca, Hannah Carter, Susannah Carter, Tyler Thompson, Aiden Brown, Caitlin Faulk, and Paige Faulk. Lucile is survived by two sisters: Elizabeth Darbe, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Margaret (Ed) Sharpe, Wake Village, Texas; and one brother: Paul Myers, Altoona, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers: Jacob Myers, Eugene Myers, David Myers, one sister: Drucilla Goltry, and one grandchild.
Her graveside service will be held Monday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the Altoona Cemetery.
