Marleen Winzer

Betty Marleen Winzer, 79, of Augusta, KS, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Visitation 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS. Marleen was born in El Dorado, KS on July 5, 1940, to the late Hazel Elizabeth "Betty" (Hover) and John M. Bright. She graduated from Augusta High School in 1958, and later attended business school and nurse assistant training. She worked in the women's hospital at Wesley Medical Center for about 28 years. After retirement, she worked as a lunch aid for Augusta High School. Marleen volunteered in Mrs. Riley's 2nd grade classroom at Garfield elementary school where she had many special adopted grandchildren. On June 11, 1961 she married Darrell Lee Winzer in Augusta. He preceded her in death. She is survived by: daughter, Kathleen Jones and husband Terry of Halstead, KS; grandchildren, Matthew Jones of Booneville, MO, Sarah Ronnefeldt of Booneville, MO; great grandchildren, Jaden, Brooklyn, and Reagan.
