Michael R. Pennington

On Sunday, January 10, 2021, Michael R. Pennington, loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 44. He is survived by his wife of 20 years Shannon (Spires) Pennington, son Logan Pennington, and daughter Lily Pennington.

Born in El Dorado, Kansas, he was the son of Audrie (White) Malin and Rick & Joanna Pennington. On May 20, 2000 Michael and Shannon celebrated their marriage with friends and family in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science for Computer Science/Software Development in May of 2003. Michael & Shannon have spent the last 16 years raising their family in Rhode Island, where he worked for the US Naval Undersea Warfare Center as a Programmer.

Michael was a dedicated father, who loved to cook and bake for his family. He was passionate about hockey, an avid Bruins fan. He loved music from an early age, playing trombone in his High School Marching Band, and guitar in the years after. Michael had a great sense of humor with an unmistakable chuckle. He was known for his easy going nature, quick wit, and playfulness that brought light into the lives of those he was around.

Michael is remembered by his siblings: Matthew Pennington, Jessie Troisi, Sophie Malin, Berry Harvey, Taylor Harvey; and many extended family members and friends.

A memorial graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS.  Those attending should use the Ohio Street entrance.
