Rachel Hollingsworth

Rachel Hollingsworth, 70, formerly of Tonganoxie, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018. Rachel was born on December 20, 1947 in Tonganoxie, KS. She was a graduate of Tonganoxie High School, as well as from both Kansas University and Kansas State University. Rachel was a member of Job's Daughters, 4H, American Baptist Women and a member of Central Baptist Church in Augusta. She was a past florist, seamstress and teacher. Rachel's talents were many, she was an extremely accomplished seamstress, a sailor, a fiber artist, needle worker, crafter and a friend who loved to entertain. Rachel collected many things including: carrots, spoons, ABC's, turquoise pottery, and vintage kitchenware. Preceded in death by her parents Raymond Slawson and Lillian Hutchinson, sister Rita Dickinson, brothers Kenneth and Gary Slawson and her son Philip Hollingsworth. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 38 years, Steven; sons and daughters-in-laws, Nathan and Deanne, Micah and Camille; two granddaughters, Maive and Margo Hollingsworth; siblings, Colene DeHoff-Botts, David and his wife Carolyn, Edward and his wife Carol, Lloyd and his wife Marie Ellen, Barbara Say and her husband Mark; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2018 at Headley Funeral Chapel, 813 State Street, Augusta, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Central Baptist Church 7421 Church Road Augusta, Kansas, with Pastor Richard Crooks officiating. Burial will be at Tonganoxie Cemetery at a later date.
