Robert Michael "Mike" Johnson

Robert Michael "Mike" Johnson, 77, of Rose Hill, KS, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 surrounded by his family in Derby, KS. Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Graveside service 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery, Augusta, KS. Mike was born in Winfield, KS on April 23, 1945, to the late Elizabeth (Wismeyer) and Robert F. Johnson. Mike attended a one room school house at Rainbow Bend through eighth grade and graduated from Winfield High School. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Mike received his Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from WSU and was a Kindergarten Teacher for Wichita Public Schools for 30 years. Mike loved spending time with family and friends entertaining at his home and family farm. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, dancing, gardening and watching the WSU Shockers. On July 31, 1971 he married, the love of his life, Judy (Raitt) Johnson at St. Vincent de Paul in Andover, KS and she survives him. He is also survived by: son, Matthew Raitt Johnson; brother, Bill Johnson and wife Jenny; sister, Kay Highfill and husband Kenneth; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Griffith "Griff" Johnson. Memorial donations may be made to Breakthrough Club 1010 N. Main Wichita, KS 67203.
