Shirley Jean Nelson, 79, of Wichita, KS, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Memorial service is at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS.  Private burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery, Douglass, KS. Shirley was born in Wichita, KS on April 20, 1942, to the late Dorothy May (Shunk) and Leroy Austin, Sr. She was an antiques dealer at American Flag Antiques and also did estate sales. She is survived by: daughter, Cynthia Nelson of Wichita, KS; son, Edward Nelson of Shell Knob, MO; brother, Larry Austin of Augusta, KS; sisters, Joyce Henzel of Belleair Bluffs, FL, Frances Zellers of Augusta, KS and Patricia "Trish" Emser of Boulder, CO; grandchild, Taylor Nelson Vakulskas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Austin, Jr., and Ray Dene Austin. Memorial donations to Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N Hillside, Wichita, Kansas 67219.
