Velma Jean Knollenberg

Velma Jean Knollenberg, 87, of Augusta, KS, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019. Visitation 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 and service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery, Douglass, KS. Velma was born in Binger, OK on February 14, 1932, to the late Daisy Ruth (McIntire) and Olaf Edward Hankins. She was a dietician at the Veterans Administration for 25 years. Velma enjoyed playing cards, tending to her flower gardens, watching K.C. Royals baseball, and watching her grandkids play sports. In 1947 she married Lester Dean Knollenberg in El Dorado, KS. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dallas and Doyle Hankins; and great grandson, Joshua Knollenberg. She is survived by: sons, Mitchell Knollenberg of Hutchinson, KS, Steven Knollenberg and wife Linda of Augusta, KS, Lester Kevin Knollenberg and wife Sabra of Douglass, KS; daughter, Brenda Spangler and husband Ron of Pass Christian, MS; brother, Don Hankins of Andover, KS; sister, Helen Dennet of Independence, MO; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren.
